The Backrooms is a strong concept with a lot of potential. Kane Parsons makes excellent use of cinematic techniques that pair perfectly with the film’s theme, and the musical score is outstanding. Rather than relying on traditional horror, he successfully creates a sense of suffocation and unease, which works extremely well. The sequence where Clark enters with Bobby and Kat stands out in particular, capturing feelings of confusion, stress, claustrophobia, and anxiety in a way that feels authentic to what someone in that situation might experience. It also immerses the viewer, making you feel like a participant in the footage rather than just an observer. This sequence highlights the potencial that Kane has in the horror film industry.  However, as this is Kane’s first film, it sometimes feels like the ambition of the idea exceeds its execution. The concept is complex and intriguing, but it does not fully come together. For roughly two-thirds of the movie, the focus is on introducing the characters and their struggles while also building mystery around the nature of the Backrooms. Then, in the final portion, the film attempts to tie everything together too quickly and somewhat abruptly, which weakens the overall impact and left me feeling a bit disconnected.

Such a fun film! The acting was A+, cinematography A+ and world building was A+ as well! Not a perfect film but truthfully very close. Should be in our top 10 of the year! Dare I say this is more enjoyable then Obsession! Can’t wait to seen where the Backrooms take us next!

Véanla pero not worth it.

Rating every movie I watch this year for the first time movie 50: didn't see it in theaters but watched it on bootleg, very good movie and concept and very very good acting. Chiwetel Ejiofor Is a standout here and is very good along side Renate Reinsve who is also very good. The entity isn't scary but Robert Bobroczkyi was a great pick for this.the story however is very confusing, they tried to Jam Pack a lot into this with very little time. Overall very good though not horror though more psychological. The cinematography was good too but it did have a bit of a pacing issue and a bit of explaining issue since they didn't explain much and it was confusing. The set design and found footage sequences were great and we should of got more of that found footage, oh and the score was good too. Overall, I would recommend checking out maybe not in theaters though but I hope for a part 2.

What's your favorite flavor of horror film? Suspense? Jump-scares? Unsettling imagery ? The Backrooms covers it all in a film that has moments of genuine terror while delivering some of the best world building we've seen in recent memory

I mean quite literally the first 10 mins of the movie is a terrible situation to find yourself in. That said, I couldn't have been more impressed with a film from a 20 year old director, Kane Parsons. The world he created is absolutely astonishing and expansive to say the least. I was on the edge of my seat the entire movie and in some ways, want more. Definitely go watch this in theaters! - @{user:8FC6C06C-3C2A-4D74-8226-FF0B9C3F1F59}
