Here comes the mother f*%#ing bride!

View allI expected a lot more from this film, especially knowing how talented Jessie Buckley is. I really appreciate how bold and unconventional it is though — the mix of gothic horror, romance, musical elements, and chaos gives it a very distinct personality. The performances are excellent, and visually it has some incredible moments. However, I feel like it tried to cover too many ideas at once without fully developing any of them. Themes like identity, obsession, rejection, and loneliness had so much potential, but the film never connected with me as deeply as I wanted it to.
A strange but ultimately endearing and engrossing film. Bale delivers as always and Jessie Buckley is quickly establishing herself as one of the best actresses of the generation.
A lonely Frankenstein travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious to create a companion for him. The two revive a murdered young woman and The Bride is born. But what ensues is beyond what either of them imagined.
