PEAK CINEMA. Everything about this film is perfection or near perfect. The acting is so good and never really drops that much. The cinematography looks incredible but it threw me off when it changed format but it looked incredible in the fight scene. The visual effects look stunning like when Sammie is singing in the speakeasy and it burns around him. Speaking about Sammie his vocals are insanely good but I feel bad for him because he just wanted to follow his passion. Most of the dialogue is realistic. I feel quite dumb because it took me like half the film to realize Michael B Jordan played both Smoke and Stack. The costumes look great and help at the end when it switches time. The intro gets you hooked immediately but does make is so you know Sammie survives. It is set in a closed environment so you can really see the characters chemistry. When Mary turns and it sets of people becoming infected it looks so good. The start of the film isn't super boring because stuff is actually happening whilst still introducing you to people. The only downside is I couldn't feel like I was in 1930 all the time and I don't know why. I did look up why the vampires were Irish and it is to show the complex intersections of African American and Irish histories.Smokes final scene is so sweet to watch seeing him reunite with Annie. It is so insane how it mostly takes place in one day. Fav character Sammie 2nd Smoke

STORY/SCRIPT ORIGINALITY: 5/5 CINEMATOGRAPHY/EDITING [DIRECTING]: 5/5 CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT [PLOT]: 4/5 MUSIC, SOUND, & SCORE: 5/5 ACTING [MAIN CAST]: 4.5/5 REWATCHABILITY & ENJOYMENT: 5/5 PERSONAL RATING: 4.5/5 33/35 A’S PERSONAL RATING: 4/5 Can confirm, the best film of 2025
The film was excellent very much lived up to the hype. At its core its basic concept is very similar to *From Dusk Till Dawn, *but there’s much more to it than that. * Sinners *takes an all-too-familiar and heavily saturated genre and puts a unique spin on it that makes it feel extremely refreshing and original. This film has amazing cinematography, soundtrack, cast, and story etc. Despite all of this I would be hard-pressed if I did not mention the film’s glaring plot holes and inconsistencies that plague its climax. The film goes out of its way to establish a firm internal logic regarding what the vampires are and are not capable of and then proceeds to ignore nearly every one of them. It’s incredibly aggravating because this movie is otherwise a cinematic masterpiece, but it’s difficult to call it such with such blatantly obvious plot holes.
