The light is the manifestation of the reward that is promised for the victory over one’s soul in the conflicts within oneself. And yet the pursuit of this becomes an unrelenting and indifferent taskmaster. Too good a movie. Pattinson is amazing. Cregger is up there. Need to rewatch in the future. There’s a lot I missed.
There is enchantment in the light.

This film is incredibly atmospheric. The music, the cinematography, and the setting are captivating. This film feels like a Soviet adaptation of a Russian classic literary work. It features primitive religious metaphors and allegories. It is suitable for fans of absurdity and surrealism.
