Harriet conducts Emma's funeral service in front of a sparse crowd of mourners. Moira takes Isaac to Holly's grave. She sits down and begins talking to her late daughter. Pete struggles to hold it together during the funeral and walks out of the church.

Ross bundled Emma into the car before speeding out of the village, which unknown to him, was witnessed by returning Laurel. At the police station, Laurel explains she went to confront Emma, unaware of what had gone on whilst she was away.

Cain hugs Moira. She asks him to say something. Cain states it was practically self-defence and is adamant Moira has got to get Emma's words out of her head as they're not true. When Moira breaks down, Cain tells her this is exactly what Emma would've wanted. Moira insists she can't live with the guilt.

Cain finds Moira working on the farm. He offers to finish the work so Moira can spend some time with Isaac but Moira refuses, saying Isaac will need to use to not having her around. Things are awkward between Victoria and Adam when she calls in at Butlers Farm with some post. Moira feels awful for the effect all of this is having on Adam's marriage so she suggests Adam tells Victoria the truth. Bernice returns to the salon following her trip away with Dee Dee and immediately implements a price hike.

Brenda wants to talk to Laurel about Bob. Laurel tries to avoid the conversation but Brenda is worried and believes Laurel knows something. At the police station, DS Benton and DC Wilson quiz Adam. DS Benton asks about Emma and how terrified she must've been in her final moments. He suggests Adam was out for revenge for James' death but Adam states James was his dad only by blood - there was no deep bond.

The twins have picked up that things aren't right between Bob and Brenda. Sam wants to have it out with Bernice over stealing Lydia's inheritance although Laurel believes Lydia should hear Bernice's explanation before she decides to do anything.

Adam is still languishing in a cell at the police station. Meanwhile, at Butlers Farm, Cain has locked Moira in the bedroom to stop her going to the police. Liv continues to nag Aaron about Alex and is pleased to learn Aaron and Alex are going Christmas shopping later. She suggests they pop into the pub beforehand as Chas wants to meet Alex.

In a state, Moira rushes into the police station and asks to speak to DS Benton, blurting out she killed Emma Barton. Whilst Rhona attempts to smooth things over with Veronica, Paddy catches Charity and Vanessa together. Bernice lends a hand at the soup kitchen in the village hall. Daz also helps out. Lydia asks if Bernice has seen Dee Dee off but Bernice believes Dee Dee will be happier without her there.

Moira decides to return to the police station to tell DS Benton the truth again and make sure he believes her this time as she can't allow Adam to rot in prison for something she did. Cain doubts Adam will alter his statement so Moira decides to make Adam change his mind. Daz prepares dinner ahead of his date with Bernice.

Robert bolts awake on the sofa of Keepers Cottage to find Victoria, Diane, Doug and Bernice preparing lunch whilst singing carols. He questions what happened last night and insists he needs to see Aaron. Confused Robert walks outside where a band are performing and Dan and Amelia sing along.

It's Boxing Day and hungover Gerry is feeling the effects of spending Christmas Day with the Dingles. Aaron assures Liv that he and Robert are over for good, revealing he's meeting Alex later. At Butlers Farm, Moira tearfully packs away Holly, Hannah and Adam's stocking's. After staring at an old family picture, she picks up Isaac and comforts him.

Alex has spent the night at Mill Cottage. Zak has learned the golf course inquiry is Friday so asks Bob to help him out by providing fake receipts for meat to show that the Dingles livelihood depends of Wishing Well Cottage. Bob wants to talk it over with Brenda first. Robert explains to Victoria that being hit by the car has put in perspective how much Seb means to him.

Cain finds Harriet at Emma's grave. Harriet questions if it's even occurred to Cain that Moira told her because she wants to do the right thing. Cain continues to defend Moira and insists Emma wanted to die so if Harriet goes to the police, Emma wins. Robert refuses to be bullied out of Seb's life by the Whites - he vows to get his son whatever it takes. Gerry has lost his ID.

Chrissie tries to talk to Lachlan about the potential move to Australia but he claims to have better things to do. Brenda is suffering the consequence for her excessive drinking yesterday and feels awful for letting Cathy and Heath see her in that state. Moira approaches Cain and Harriet in the café to inform Cain that she's taking Isaac for a scan on his heart.
