Argylle2024

4.0 🥨

This movie had points where I was convinced I was going to walk out a fan… but ultimately once the credits rolled I was dissatisfied. There were parts that were great, the concept for the film was captivating, and knowing it was made by the same team that produced the Kingsman franchise was a major selling point to me. However- this film was unable to capture the charm of Matthew Vaughn’s other projects and felt like a major mess. Somewhere in there was a good movie.. But some bad creative and casting choices greatly held this film back from what it could’ve been.

Strays2023

4.0 🥨

Strays was the raunchy and foul-mouthed version of your classic talking dog movie. Think Homeward Bound meets South Park. However, despite the voice actors being a great collection of comedic actors- Strays didn’t have me laughing out loud as much as I thought it would. It was not a terrible movie but not one I feel the need to recommend to others or ever watch again.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes2024

6.5 🥨

Recovering strongly from a very slow start to the film- this movie ultimately becomes a good addition to the Planet of the Apes Franchise. It mostly serves as the start of a new chapter post-Ceaser in the franchise’s universe that feels fresh but also found ways to tie back to its predecessors. This film did enough for me to continue the franchise but may not be the best entry film for new fans compared to the first trilogy.

Dumb Money2023

7.3 🥨

Dumb Money is the latest piece of content that explores the GameStop Stock fascination during the early 2020s. Yet it somehow feels as if it adds to the story. Using the characters as vessels to show the stress of the hold/sell decision they all faced felt much more personal and real thru the medium of film. A stellar cast provides great acting to an already fascinating story making for an extremely entertaining* *and thought provoking film. I thought DumbMoney would be good but it was even better than I expected.

The Amateur2025

7.5 🥨

Rami Malek's twist on Spy films where the guy in the chair hits the field to seek revenge on his wife's killers was more than solid and left me wanting more of the character. Give me a trilogy of these. The Amateur, The Professional, and The Veteran.
