Evil Dead II1987
I might be missing something but I didn’t like this that much. I can appreciate the effects but I don’t think I’m a huge fan of the Evil Dead movies

This is a hidden gem for sure. Immediately I was drawn in with the very 80’s opening title sequence and I loved it till the credits rolled. First off, such a STACKED cast and extremely sharp writing. I was not expecting for this to be such a dark comedic movie. It felt like a more grounded Naked Gun or Mel Brooks film that actually had a somewhat rewarding pay off. This is an 80’s film in the best way possible and might truly be one of the most surprisingly fun movies I’ve ever seen!
If you know the story of The Odyssey you know what to expect! It definitely takes the story that almost everyone knows and puts a little modern spin on it given the casting, music and dialogue. For the most part this was an extremely entertaining film, and yes, we saw it in IMAX. The action scenes were truly amazing, the acting for the most part was fantastic and you really feel like you were immersed in the period in regard to the location, clothing and set pieces. Not to mention how beautiful the film was shot. What kept this from being perfect for us was the pacing in some spots. We know this is a modern day epic but some of the scenes seemed a little drawn out for our liking. Additionally, some actors felt a little out of place just to have “big names” in the role. Don’t get us wrong, it was so cool seeing such a stacked cast but it did take us out of the story a little bit. Needless to say, this will go down as a classic film that will be in the cinema zeitgeist for years to come. This type of film is not made anymore and was truly fun to watch on the largest screen we were able to see it on. Don’t miss out on this absolute epic of a film and take part in the phenomenon that is Christopher Nolan’s, The Odyssey!
This pleasantly surprised me, especially since this was my first watch of it! It takes 2 of my favorite film genres, war and alien movies, and cranks it up to 100! For me, just about everything worked. I thought the camera work, sound, and VFX all hit the nail ON THE HEAD, while some of the acting and script was just a little off in parts. Granted we know this isn’t the next Saving Private Ryan but come on, this was such a fun watch. To me, this is the most realistic and plausible take on an actual alien invasion happening. Not to mention how great the alien design was! This is **a must see movie**, even after all these years it’s been out.
This might be the most unique action movie I’ve ever seen. The story is simple, but that’s not the point. It’s all about the killer action, stylish slow-motion visuals, and an awesome soundtrack packed with ’70s BANGERS! Once it gets going, it never lets up until the credits roll. I also loved the ending. Remember, you’ll never break the chain. This is the definition of a great “**dad movie**” in the best way possible. Alan Ritchson and the cast are fantastic, even with very little dialogue. Creative, over the top, and a blast from start to finish. Definitely check it out and preferably in a theater!
First time I watched it I gave it a 10 out of 10. It’s still extremely amazing but loses a little bit of the mystery. I’m not sure if I can still give it a perfect score but this is the most almost perfect movie I think I’ve watched. Crazy to imagine that he went from directing this and then Weapons. An absolute great start to his career and it really is a very unique movie! I’m not going to say anything else in this review because this movie is best if you know nothing about it. It will be sure to subvert your expectations and keeps you guessing until the credits.
Journey to the Center of the Earth was a pretty fun watch. Nothing too special but the 3-D effects were fun even though I was only watching it in my home theater! It is kind of funny because there are so many scenes that are obviously in there just to show that it is in 3-D like characters yo-yoing right into the camera lens or throwing something that did not need to beat to be thrown! To me it felt like an Indiana Jones movie if he worked at your local community college. It was a good set up getting to the middle of the Earth, but once they were actually there in the center, I felt like it was rushed a little bit too much. I would have loved to explore more of the prehistoric characters that were down there and the ending was a little bit underwhelming given where they were at. Nonetheless it won’t be a waste of an hour and a half if you watch this, and Brenden Fraser shines as always!
This is a perfect 7, if you like the music that’s of course. Growing up with the Jonas Brothers helps with the nostalgia but what really sets this movie apart is watching it in 3D Blu-ray, a format which not seen anymore. And I mean the old school red and blue 3D glasses! It looked amazing and really helped make this the 7 that it is. I actually didn’t mind the “story lol” this had to it and even though it made no sense, it helped break up the concert parts. A must watch if you grew up with the JoBros! (Never been 2nd to review a movie but here we are!)
I was hoping this was going to be an absolute banger but unfortunately fell a little flat. The movie just did not seem to be unique and I don’t mean that vaguely. There were scenes straight out of Guardians of the Galaxy, Mad Max, and so many other movies it was hard to keep up with. I was hoping for more originality, but I understand them having to play it safe. The needle drops were meh at best and while the villain was menacing, I hated the character design. It was cool seeing Supergirl and Superman together on screen together as well as finally seeing Lobo on the big screen, while being under utilized in my opinion. Fortunately, this does not put a damper on the new DCU for me and I am excited to see how _Clayface_ melts into the universe!
I was going into this expecting a good movie but this over-delivered for me, and I’m not complaining! Growing up with these characters it’s impressive to see how much the CGI has improved. I also appreciated the call backs to previous films that made it nostalgic yet didn’t make the movie feel too bogged down. I’m so glad that I was able to watch this movie and I wouldn’t be surprised if it makes a run at best animated film at the Academy Awards! Toy Story delivers lots of laughs (there’s jokes for adults too), heart and commentary that’s great for all generations!
LISTEN! This is seriously such a great movie. I knew not to expect a “war of the worlds” alien movie and more of a government cover up alien movie; that helped with expectations. It felt like a nostalgic 90’s movie in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE! You can never go wrong with a Steven Spielberg flick and we really need to appreciate how lucky we are to still have him directing! Please don’t let this film flop, it’s too dang good👽
I mean…. What do you expect from Scary Movie. A pretty fun turn your brain off movie that stays super current, including a 6 7 joke, that will age like every other movie in the franchise. We are starting to bring back comedy movies, let’s keep rolling!
