The Big Short2015

Granted i understood less than 1% of what they were saying and even that was with ALOT of chat's help (ironically). I do appreciate however they way they tried to explain it through A list celebrities (also ironic), although i still did not get what they were saying. Still, i felt the thrill, the tension and the depression through the acting the way the events unfolded. The film most probably had the capacity to simplify this further for more people to understand, if they really wanted to (they already went half the lengths to do so) but thats just it, they didn't want to. Its just like Ryan Gosling had said in the beginning; that use complicated, Wolf Street exclusive words to make you feel stupid and get you to think that they probably understand this better and to get you to just "leave them the fuck alone" Thats exactly what the film did, i feel like. They spent capital and time and effort to create this film to get the mass the see the gravity of the collapse and how it came about, yet they didn't make it mass friendly at all. So perhaps thats not what its meant for. Even if its for the sake of "pure and untainted depiction" of the time and the people (documentary like), it still couldve been easier to understand Still, it was quite the interesting watch. I've never cared to look into the 2008 collapse or get into trade or stocks or bonds or any of that capitalist nonsense that will forever remain a mystery to me. So this was added some knowledge.

The Odyssey2026

The entire theatre was plastered to their seats and entirely captivated, as was i. Such genius and brilliant filmmaking—absolutely love the way the events unfolded, and he made every scene an interesting one (even the suitor scenes), score is just perfect and hit the exact right spot, the visuals go insanely hard it felt like my eyes were starving and fulfilled by the this then hungry for even more of it, i didn’t want it to end at all. Although, i wasn’t the biggest fan of the modern language, but i didn’t mind the use of everyday english than i do mind the accent, even if American, it could’ve been less heavy on the modern pronunciation and general way of speaking ig. That was especially seen in tom holland and anne’s performances. And all i saw in tom’s character was peter parker tbh😭 i wasn’t convinced i was watching Telemachus not peter or tom even. Also wtf was that trojan horse, that’s an unrealistic product from men stranded on a beach for 10 years with just enough resources to keep them alive.. Although “accuracy” and truthfullness to the “original” Odyssey could be debated, i was still able to enjoy the film on its own. And truthfulnees to the Greek culture as well, i’m hearing and reading alot of discourse surrounding the inaccuracy of language, costumes, attitudes, etcs My biggest issue with the film however, remains the arbitrary casting that didn’t make sense at times anx other times not, as well as with Penelope lack of.. character? As it is with most of the characters but Penelope especially deserved more than a broken wife tied down by the will of men.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day2026

Those 4 years of misery and crippling loneliness for peter were his destruction that were fated to signal his rebirth.. You must move on and you must let go, you must surrender to change.. and this really put the last 4 years of my life into perspective. I couldn’t have watched this at a more perfect time: i was tearing up at the theatre, particularly at peter and jeans’ scene, and you rarely catch me tearing up in movies. Perhaps it was the continuous 12 hours of peter plastered on my screen, to the point where i couldn’t think of anything outside his world. I really really enjoyed jean’s character, it was purposefully villainous and intricate in depth, also a female character of marvel depicted as a human rather than an object.

Spider-Man: No Way Home2021

3 marvel movies in one day.. wow (including endgame) Watching this now, i cant help but think how perfect it would’ve been had i seen this when it came out: i was exactly spiderman’s age and the general vibes of that year were just so fiting to the movie. But then again, i do believe that every movie that has ever been put off and watched at a later time, is so for a reason—i was meant to watch this today for a reason… Its such an emotional film for how much plot and film techniques it lacks, but i think thats what makes marvel mocies so fun is that they’re just flare and emotion: they serve one of the pillar purposes of film—to entertain. Poor peter is just so pure and good that it really all backfires in his face and i really feel bad for him that i want to reach through the screen, wipe away his tears, and give him a big fat hug.. and i dread what’s to come for him even though he’s kinda getting what he wants rn by being off the radar again, but soon enough the loneliness will strike and brooding peter will enter, signaling a new chapter one that i’m really excited to see, seeing as he’s also reached my current age. Although its really difficult to get tickets here so perhaps later this week.

Very autumnal and beautifully gothic and elegant but was awaiting a more cryptic secret than incest.. definitely would’ve made for a more interesting film

The Prestige2006

I knew nothing going into this.. including who the director was and the entire time i was watching i was feeling the Nolan effect but i doubted it nonetheless.. It’s a brilliantly executed film and i have alot of questions still..

The People and the Nile1972

Kill Bill: Vol. 12003

I think the film predominantly relies on aestheticism than anything else; great unfolding of events, the pace is magnificent (coming from someone with 2026 attention span), cinematography is top tier and even the music and sound effects i found myself enjoying despite their exaggeration sometimes but i think this is what makes it so fun and gives it the Tarntino flavor. In terms of story, its quite a simple and lacks depth which i'm not fully objecting to btw. Its a movie for those who love cinema for its dramatic flare not its depth and resonance. Very violent too.
